I am working on a DESI experiment using a micrOTOF. When I put the MS in operating mode I get the random background chemical noise as expected. Then using my DESI probe I desorbe analyte off of my surface and get a reading of the correct peaks. However after I turn off my probe and remove the sampling surface I still detect my anaylte for another 20-30 seconds. There is nothing for it to be detecting yet it continues to display the analyte peaks with rather high intensity for a long time. I have tried playing with the end plate and capillary voltages, sampling rates, and even tried turning on the drying gas to see if that helps but nothing seems to work. My inlet capillary is at 185 C, I can't make it any hotter than that. Any suggestions as to why the signal continues to be detected when it shouldn't?
